How the acca calculator works

An accumulator, or parlay, multiplies the odds of several selections into one price and pays only if every leg wins. This calculator gives the combined odds and the return for your stake.

  1. Convert each leg to decimal odds.
  2. Multiply them together for the combined decimal odds.
  3. Return is the stake times the combined odds; profit is the return minus the stake.

Worked example

£10 on two legs at 1.91 and 2.50.

  • Combined odds 1.91 × 2.50 = 4.78.
  • Return £47.75, profit £37.75.

The bookmaker's margin multiplies too: two legs at 4.7% margin each carry about 9.6% together, which is why accumulators pay less than they look.

Questions

Why are accumulator odds so large?
Because probabilities multiply. Two 50% legs together are 25%; five are 3%. The price reflects how rarely every leg lands.
Is the margin bigger on an accumulator?
Yes, in effect. Each leg's margin compounds, so the true fair combined price is further from the offered one than on any single leg.
Can I include a void leg?
A void leg settles at 1.00 and drops out of the multiplication. Leave that leg blank here and the calculator does the same.
